Follow the Senegal Elections and make your voice heard!

As part of our efforts to bring useful and relevant African content online, during 2011 we built election pages for both Nigeria’s presidential election and Cameroon’s general elections. We are repeating the experience this year for the upcoming presidential election in Senegal and starting  a new initiative,  working together with CarRapideTV, to help you keep track of elections and interact with the candidates.

Our Senegal elections page includes links to:

  • Elections Search Trends - showing what people are searching for online, when it comes to presidential candidates, political parties and issues that are important to the public
  • Curated media - Our partner Storyful experienced user of social networks to create authentic journalism,  has prepared a curated list of relevant videos related to the elections in Senegal
  • Relevant news links via Google News.
  • Additional links to official election website and other interesting websites to visit

We’re also excited to introduce a new initiative which uses Moderator, hosted on CarRapideTV’ site. You will be able to ask questions about the candidates’ programs and policies and/or vote for questions that are relevant to you. CarRapideTV will collect the top questions, record the interviews of the candidates and finally post these on their YouTube channel and Google+ page. Confirmed candidates include Idrissa Seck, Macky Sall, Cheikh Bamba Dieye and Ibrahima Fall.

We hope that the Senegal elections page will be a useful resource, and an important step towards better access to locally relevant information in Africa. Feel free to share your questions by visiting this site specially prepared to help you get more involved in the electoral debate.

Visit the sites, share the links, make your voice heard and exercise your right to vote!
