Young Africans to Compete on the Global Doodle Stage

Posted on 15:10 by Unknown
En Français

Young artists in 17 countries have been busy creating their own Google doodle to celebrate the love of football for Google's first global Doodle 4 Google competition. Since the competition began in April, over 35,000 children from around the world have submitted their designs.

This was the first time that children from Africa have brought their talent and creativity to a Doodle competition and, in the past few days, we’ve seen the winning national Doodles from Kenya, Ghana and South Africa go up on each of those country’s home pages.

Now these three national finalists will compete against winners from the other 14 countries to have their Doodle featured on the Google homepage of participating countries on 11th July, where it will be seen by millions of internet users around the world. Voting for the international winner will be open between June 21 - 28.

There are some great prizes on offer: the international winner will also win a trip to South Africa for themselves and their family, courtesy of South African Tourism. The runner-up will win 2 VIP tickets to a Premiere League football match in the UK, courtesy of Sports New Media.

Participating countries include: Australia, Germany, Ghana, Korea, New Zealand, South Africa, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, France, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Czech Republic, Kenya, UAE and Israel.
