Kenyan students, get ready to Doodle 4 Google!

Posted on 04:07 by Unknown
Ever wanted your own artwork to be displayed on the Google homepage? Now is your chance. Doodles are spontaneous and exciting changes made to the Google logo and they have long been a part of life at Google. Google Kenya has celebrated significant local heroes and events with doodles commemorating figures such as Wangari Maathai and events ranging from Kenya’s independence day to the the wildebeest migration in the Maasai Mara, so we’re pleased to announce an exciting local initiative in Kenya called “Doodle 4 Google - “My Kenya.” This will be the first nationwide drawing competition by Google inviting all aspiring young artists from around the country to design their own Google logo.

The competition is open to all school-going children and teenagers aged 6 to 18 years. Young artists are challenged to create a doodle around the “My Kenya” theme that’s inspired by Kenya’s Jubilee year, a celebration of 50 years since independence. In judging the doodles, we’ll look for designs that capture the spirit of the theme and that show artistic merit and creativity. We have assembled a panel of expert judges from tech, entertainment, and media, including Juliani Musik, Churchill, and Caroline Mutoko.

Winning Doodle in 2010 Doodle 4 Google competition.

The competition launches today and submissions should be posted no later than June 14th 2013. The winner will be announced on July 26th 2013 and the winning doodle will be displayed on the Google Kenya homepage for 24 hours in August 2013.

Interested students can visit the competition website at www.google.co.ke/doodle4google for the full contest rules, important dates, and to download entry forms.

The winner (and his or her teachers!) stands to win some great prizes including Android phones and tablets, school fee scholarships, and technology equipment for your school - so put on your creative hats and we look forward to receiving your doodles by June 14th!

Pour en savoir plus, consultez : Behind the scenes with the Doodle team.
