Introducing Google’s 2012 Sub Saharan Africa Anita Borg Scholars & Finalists

Posted on 20:00 by Unknown
En Français

The Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship was established in 2004 by Google in honor of Dr. Anita Borg, who devoted her life to promoting the presence of women in technology and who founded the Institute for Women in Technology in 1997. Through the scholarship, Anita’s legacy lives on by supporting women in computer science and related areas as well as by recognizing the next generation of women leaders in technology.

We would like to recognize three young African women who have been selected as 2012 Anita Borg Scholars & Finalists.

Sub Saharan Africa Anita Borg Scholars & Finalists
Oluwasola Fasan, University of Pretoria, South Africa
Maletsabisa Molapo, University of Cape Town, South Africa
Joyce Mwangama, University of Cape Town, South Africa

They will attend the annual Google EMEA Scholars’ Retreat where they will have the opportunity to attend tech talks, network with other scholars and participate in social activities. The retreat will be held in June in the Google Zurich office, Switzerland.

Congratulations Oluwadola, Maletsabisa and Joyce!

You can find a full list of all U.S, Middle East and African scholars and finalists on the Official Google Blog. For more information about the Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship, please visit the Google scholarships site.
