In March, in conjunction with 3 Google Technology User Groups (GTUGs), we organized hackathons to help 100 African developers build applications on the Google+ API. The hackathons started in Kampala at Soliz House, followed by Lagos at the Co-Creation Hub and lastly Accra at the Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology.
The developers also learned about various Google+ features such as hangouts and the hangouts API. In addition to a number of Googlers, we were excited to have Nelson Mattos, VP of Product and Engineering for Google Europe, Middle East and Africa, speak at the Lagos Hackathon. Some of the applications were demoed and prizes were given out for the best of them.

- Kampala - Peter Kakoma won with “Ndongo”. The application allows multiple people to listen to various radio stations while viewing which of their Google+ friends are listening to the same stations. It also allows users to watch videos together, singing along while competing karaoke style!
- Lagos - Oyewale Oyediran and Maxwell Udoba, built an application called “Life Savers”. It is a platform that uses the Public Data API and analyses your mood.
- Accra - Edem Kumordzi incorporated a SMS client where users could subscribe to a hashtag on Google+ and demoed it live with the #hackgplus hashtag.
The winners earned brand new Android phones. The “Life Savers” team won tickets to Google I/O. Hashtag competitions were run during the hackathons to reward creative activities on Google+.
African developers like you can now distribute hangout apps across Google+. Keep on building your app, and if you submit it in the next six weeks via the Google Africa website, you could be featured on the Google+ Developers + Page or Blog, and the new Google Developer showcase page. Élaborer plus d'applications africaines Google+
En mars, conjointement avec 3 GTUG (Google Technology User Group), nous avons organisé des hackathons pour aider 100 développeurs africains à élaborer des applications sur l'API Google+. Les hackathons ont débuté à Kampala à la Soliz House, et se sont poursuivies à Lagos au Co-Creation Hub pour s'achever à Accra au Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology.
Les développeurs ont également appris à se servir des différentes fonctions de Google+ telles que les hangouts et leurs API. Outre de nombreux Googlers, nous avons été très heureux d'accueillir Nelson Mattos, Vice-président Produits et Ingénierie pour Google Europe, Moyen-Orient et Afrique, qui est intervenu au Hackathon de Lagos. Nous avons vu tourner quelques applications en démonstration. Et des prix ont été attribués aux meilleures d'entre elles.
- Kampala - Peter Kakoma a été récompensé pour “Ndongo”. L'application permet à plusieurs personnes d'écouter différentes stations de radio tout en regardant qui parmi ses amis Google+ écoute la même station. Il permet aussi de regarder des vidéos à plusieurs, en chantant en même temps, comme pour un vrai karaoké !
- Lagos - Oyewale Oyediran et Maxwell Udoba, ont développé une application appelée “Life Savers”. Il s'agit d'une plate-forme qui exploite l'API Public Data et analyse vos habitudes.
- Accra - Edem Kumordzi a intégré un client SMS dans lequel les utilisateurs peuvent s'abonner à un hashtag sur Google+. Il en a présenté une démonstration live avec le hashtag #hackgplus .
Les lauréats ont reçu des téléphones Android de marque. L'équipe "Life Savers” a gagné des billets pour Google I/O. Les compétitions hashtag ont eu lieu au cours des hackathons pour récompenser les activités créatives sur Google+.
Les développeurs africains comme vous peuvent désormais distribuer les applis hangout sur Google+. Continuez à construire votre appli et, si vous la soumettez dans les six semaines à venir via le site Google Afrique, votre appli pourra être exposée sur la + Page ou le Blog des développeurs Google+ et sur la nouvelle page vitrine des développeurs Google.
