Google Code University: free access to quality computing tutorials

Posted on 09:17 by Unknown
En Français

Two weeks ago at our G-Uganda and G-Kenya Developer Day events, members of the Google Education team talked about Google Code University (GCU), an online course repository containing educational material, tutorials, lecture slides and videos focused entirely on computer science. The content—developed by the best schools around the United States, and some of which is used to train Google engineers—is cutting-edge. And because everything is Creative Commons licensed, instructors can download the materials and reuse it in their classes. GCU is free to use and does not require sign-in.

At the Developer Days, the team highlighted new course content that's been added to GCU, including C++ and Android. They also focused on the Python course as many participants were using the language for the first time during the event. Initial feedback on the content was very positive and many participants walked away eager to learn more.

GCU has several discussion forums with topics like web security, Android and C++, where you can ask your fellow students questions, or post interesting articles and resources. So whether you attended a G-Africa event and want a refresher on Python or are just interested in learning about HTML5, be sure to take a peek at Google Code University.

We'd appreciate your input on new course content we should include—please visit our General Forum and let us know what you think!
