The results for the Google Online Marketing Challenge are in!

What happens when you give hundreds of student teams across the world an AdWords online advertising budget of US$250 and three weeks to help a local business improve their marketing campaign? You get the annual Google Online Marketing Challenge (GOMC) which is now in its fifth and most competitive year yet.  

A total of 11,000 students from 86 countries/territories participated in this year’s challenge, and students from universities in Sub Saharan Africa were not left out. 

About 47 student teams from 26 universities in 10 countries in Sub Saharan Africa joined their peers from all over the world in this year’s challenge.

The results are now in. Eight student teams from 4 universities in Sub Saharan Africa made it to the top 60 teams in the world. Of the eight African teams, two are among the 15 teams in the world that were ranked as Finalist while six are among the 45 teams ranked as Semi-Finalists.
We would like to recognize the following students and their lecturers whose teams made it to the Finalist and Semi-Finalist categories:

Finalists teams from Africa:
Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology, Ghana
Team: Maria Meier (Lecturer), Lenny Wosornu, Seth Adinkra, Charles Mensah, and Owusu Achiaw Kwasi

University of Ibadan, Nigeria
Team: Akomolafe Oladeji (Lecturer), Oladipo Oluwaseyi, Olukayode Didunoluwa Olamide, Oyeside Olalekan, Alagbe Olarenwaju, and Aiyelari Temilolorun

Semi-Finalists teams from Africa:
Rhodes University, South Africa
Team: Jude Mathurine (Lecturer), Gregory Peake, Ntendeni Luvengho, Nicola Haw, and Isabelle Anne Abraham

University of Lagos, Nigeria
Team: Adeyanju Olusiji Ayoade (Lecturer), Longe Olubusayo Anuoluwapo, Obanor Chukwuwezam, Babalola Hisa, Abdussalam Mariam Oluwakemi, and Fadeyi Ayoola Idris

University of Ibadan, Nigeria
In addition to the Finalist team from University of Ibadan, four teams emerged as Semi-Finalists. These teams were all tutored by Akomolafe Oladeji.

Team 2: Oni Samson, Abebe Grace Angelica, Olatunji Ayodabo, Adepoju Emmanuel, Olaoye Oluwafemi Emmanuel, and Ajibade Idris Adeshina

Team 3: Moshood Temitope Omoteleola, Faniyi Olarotimi, Ajegbomogun Peter, Adediji Obitayo, Udenewu Kingsley, and Muraina Atinuke

Team 4: Olufohunsi Tolulope, Dada Boluwatife, Okpara Bobby, Okusanya Tobi, Kuyinu Tobiloba, and Adekunle Idowu

Le "Google Online Marketing Challenge" : les résultats sont là !


Que se passe-t-il quand on donne à des centaines d'équipes étudiantes à travers le monde un budget de marketing en ligne AdWords de 250 dollars US et trois semaines pour aider une entreprise locale à améliorer sa campagne marketing ? On obtient le Google Online Marketing Challenge (GOMC), qui en est rendu à sa cinquième édition annuelle, la plus compétitive de toute à ce jour.

Au total, 11.000 étudiants issus de 86 pays/territoires ont participé au concours cette année et les étudiants de l'Afrique sub-saharienne n'étaient pas en reste. En effet, près de 47 équipes étudiantes de 26 universités d'Afrique sub-saharienne ont rejoint leurs pairs du monde entier pour participer au concours cette année.

Les résultats sont là. Huit équipes étudiantes de quatre universités sub-sahariennes sont arrivées dans le top des 60 meilleures équipes du monde. Deux d'entre elles sont arrivées en finale parmi les 15 équipes finalistes du monde entier et six en demi-finale parmi les 45 équipes demi-finalistes.

Nous souhaitons féliciter les étudiants ci-dessous, et leurs enseignants, qui ont mené leurs équipes en finale ou demi-finale :

Équipes finalistes d'Afrique :
